Hello, I’m thrilled to introduce myself as your pastor!

I am a child of God, baptized, confirmed, and nurtured in the Lutheran faith. I grew up on a farm near Leola, SD, the oldest daughter of Richard and Janice Jasmer, both retired teachers who continue to farm. I have been happily married to Rodney Grismer for over 24 years; he works as a police officer with the federal VA Health System in Hot Springs.

Our family includes three wonderful children: Brian (Dawn) Malsam, who lives near Roscoe, SD; Brandon Grismer, based in Aberdeen, SD; and Haylee Grismer, who is stationed in Germany with the US Air Force. I’m also a proud grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters, Sydnee (7) and Paxton (nearly 2), and a loving mom to our mixed breed dog, Brownie.

Academically, I hold a double major in Elementary and Special Education from Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD, and a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN, where I graduated in 2006 alongside colleagues like Pastor Becky Piper and Pastor Justin Neugebauer.

I previously served as the pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD, for eight years before moving to Hot Springs in 2014 to join Rodney. More recently, I’ve been involved as a part-time Chaplain and Adult and Aging Specialist at the MJF State Veteran’s Home.

In my free time, I enjoy indulging in the color purple, chocolate, Diet Coke, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with others. If you have any questions, concerns, or simply wish to chat, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to getting to know each of you and being a part of your church family.

God Bless,
Pastor Deb
